Our Six Day Trip To Arizona
Friday we arose early and set off for Lake Havasu City where my family is gathering for us to visit. We'll spend about a week with my sister India and her husband George. India has arranged for my mother to fly in via Las Vegas and my brother Steve lives in Lake Havasu City. Others of my family and Georges may drop in for a visit. We motored north to I-40 then west a short distance to the Historic Route 66 turn-off. This is a long section of the original US Route 66 which remains. We saw several series of Burma Shave signs, many freight trains and folks enjoying the historic towns along the route. We passed, but didn’t visit, Grand Canyon Caverns along the way near Peach Springs. Because of our early start we arrived at our end-of-day destination about 3:00. After texting India, we continued into Lake Havasu City and had a wonderful visit with everyone who was assembled. It was supper time so we want to George’s favorite Mexican restaurant. Good stuff.
